A Physics Lesson
The primary law that links directly to the Law of Attraction is the Law of Vibration. This concludes that everything in the universe is made of constantly vibrating energy. Everything vibrates, nothing rests. Even your phone has unique wavelengths of frequency that can be connected to another phone that is also on a unique frequency (or ‘wave of energy’).
Propelled together after the Big Bang, bosons, fermions and quarks (pure energy) forming electrons, protons and neutrons (sub-atomic particles), which further combined to form atoms. These atoms then began linking in various quantities to create molecules. Eventually, these molecules also combined to become the building blocks of matter.
After millions of years changing in and out of form, these molecules of matter developed into single-celled organisms. After billions of years more, these single-celled organisms realised that they could enhance their survival by working in communities. Thus, multi-cellular creatures were formed. These creatures worked together to form a balance of life on Earth. This balance of life depends on the survival of all other living things. This super-organism of which we are a part of, is referred to as Gaia. And everything on Gaia still communicates using the basic foundation of everything in the universe: waves of energy.
Each energy wave consists of an electric field and a magnetic field, first proposed by Faraday. These fields together are refered to as the Electromagnetic Field (or EMF). Although the physical measurement of each of these fields decline with distance, their influence is infinite. So every time you use your car, the fields around it disturb charged particles in the farthest galaxies ever so slightly. Even extremely low frequency transmissions can travel all the way around the world without diminishing [1]. Thus, electromagnetic fields weave through the physical world in a seamless connecting web.
(It would be important to note here that not all EMFs are biologically friendly, with the vast majority of man-made fields being incredible detrimental to cellular communication. But that’s another blog for another time!)
So, if everything in the universe is made from atoms (teeny, tiny particles) that are constantly vibrating and circling around each other, it is dependent on the speed of vibration and the distance between these rushing atoms that various frequencies (energy waves) are formed. This creates all of the energy and matter in the universe, including humans.
(That’s right, you actually never stop moving! The atoms that vibrate together to create your physical body never stop. Even a table, a cup, a spoon, are constantly moving energy waves that take the form of a solid in a physical world because of how small the space is between the vibrating atoms.)
Every atom consists of a collection of equally charged protons (positively charged particles) and electrons (negatively charged particles). Unlike protons, the electrons are outside of the atom nucleus, so are more easily dislodged from the atoms. When electrons move away from an area, it becomes positively charged. This generates an electrical field around any electrical charge which attracts the properties of other electrical fields. This means that other charged objects will be attracted.
As everything in the universe is an expression of pure energy, this earth, every one of the billions of individual cells of your body, and every atoms of matter, is influenced by other energies. Your physical body, for example, is a combination of organs, which are communities of cells that ultimately are attracted to, and interact through, waves of energy. These energy-based atomic structures communicate with each other by vibrating and releasing more frequencies of energy. Therefore, vibration is the language of the universe and, with every frequency you beam through the thoughts you think, you are communicating with the universe.
Ultimately, the universe is an electromagnetic phenomenon, held together by electromagnetic forces. Even our thoughts are a form of non-physical energy. When you desire using thought energy, you are using the same stuff that nature used when creating this earth.
The Earth’s electromagnetic field is largely a result of interaction between the planet’s molten iron-nickel core and charged gases. At the end of the nineteenth century, geophysicists found that the earth’s magnetic field varies as the moon revolved around it. (I taught a boy once whose mother insisted he became ‘the devil’ every full moon.) Consequently, since the cellular functions of our own bodies are controlled by our own electric fields, there’s no reason to doubt the plausibility of the Law Of Attraction and its influence on other energetic beings, even at great distances apart.
Everything, then, from sound to solid matter, has its own unique collection of vibrating atoms that radiate their own identifying energy patterns. The electrons that form part of each atom are expressions of the electromagnetic field. And remember, these atoms are so small that they are invisible to the human eye, so even the space around you that looks empty is actually full of energy in the form of vibrating atoms.
Even your thoughts produce energy! This has been measured and proved time and time again, with a particularly famous study by Bruce Lipton [2] who was able to use a magnetoencephalogram (MEG) to measure thought energy above the head and outside of the physical body.
This shows that, although this energetic realm is invisible, it permeates everything and affects everything; sustaining the visible and influencing the course of biochemical reactions [3]. Even the world-famous equation E=MC2 (or, Energy equals Mass multiplied by the speed of Light, squared) literally means that one can turn mass into energy and energy into mass. Thus, mass and energy are but two aspects of the same thing.
Again, mass can be turned into energy, and energy into mass.
This proves that it doesn’t matter whether an aspect of space is dense with mass or energy, since they have the same effect on the geometry of space-time; they are the same thing in different forms. Furthermore, the equation shows that miniscule mass can be turned into colossal energy; while a lot of energy can only be turned into a small amount of mass.
This is the theory that lies behind all of particle physics and proves that the universe is one dynamic whole in which energy and matter are so deeply entangled that it is impossible to consider them separately [4]. Therefore whatever we focus a large amount of energy on becomes our reality.
However, to your mind, you are the centre of the universe.
Within this physical realm, our brain is conditioned to focus on and filter what is most important based on past experiences and present beliefs. This is an evolutionary survival strategy within our DNA for making split second decisions when faced with danger [5]. The world leaders and media are good at using this to highlight particular news stories, such as those in need migrating to safer countries, and ‘hide’ those less favourable from the public, like the incredibly high bonuses given to bankers and capitalists. Because of this, we have replaced reality with our illusions.
So, we use our brain to decode the world around us, which expresses itself through the body. These expressions are through emotions, actions and energies (aura). Thoughts, feelings and actions need to be in harmony with each other for positive vibrations to be emitted. If any of these are in conflict with each other, then your vibrational frequency will not be in the same frequency as that which we desire, as we are releasing a frequency that keeps changing and opposing. Through negative thoughts you release a conflicting energy field which attracts likewise conflicting energy fields. This negative energy also leaves us feeling drained, exhausted and often ill. Bruce Lipton, a developmental biologist, refers to this phenomenon as Constructive Interference. He states that every physical object emits a frequency; cycle patterns that align in harmonic resonance (like the waves that ripple from a rock thrown in a pond). Where these frequencies merge, the size of the wave is amplified (like if two harmonious waves ripple from two rocks and create a larger wave). The opposite of this is Destructive Interference, which occurs when waves are out of sync; thus cancelling each other out (like if two rocks are thrown but at different times). It is because of this, he warns, that we should not brush off our gut feelings, for good-vibes are nature’s way of telling you that you are in the right place. So when you ‘entangle’, you want the interference to be Constructive and energy increasing.
This phenomenon is not only limited to living beings, but all physical matter (The art of adjusting physical objects around you so that there is Constructive Interference is known as Feng Shui and will be described in more detail later). Lipton claimed that our thoughts will also energise life experiences that are resonant with the images created in your mind [6].
In June 2009, The Journal Of Neuroscience [7] revealed a study that further proved this. The study concluded that ‘positive states of being’ broadened the visual field of view; providing evidence that internal emotional states alter visual cortical responses. Basically, the happier a person was, the more their brain could perceive, the more energetic they felt and the more optimistic they were.
Let’s look at it in terms of LOA.
Let’s say you want a new car.
And you imagine having it, you really feel like you have it.
First, that thought energy will go out into the universe, which will try to balance the energy waves. Then, your brain (the part called the Reticular Activating System, or RAS) will start to filter out physical information given to your senses based on what you have consciously decided is important to you. Your brain will therefore be on the lookout for a new car because you have registered with it that a new car is important. As a result, you will also emit a frequency of having a new car (through your aura). The universal energy will continue to re-balance by causing a gravitational attraction between your energy and a likewise energy. However, if you tell your brain that you want a new car but cannot afford one and allow your body to release a frequency of desperation, then that is what the universal energy will release back to you; resulting in you remaining within a desperate vibration, believing that you’ll never have a new car, and so never getting one. If we have fears or worries, we often put these in the way and miss what is actually going on- like being so engrossed in fears of not being able to pay the bills that you don’t notice the new job opportunity passing by.
Simply put, imagine yourself as a magnet, attracting everything that you think and feel strongly about, whatever the outcome. A magnetised piece of iron will lift about twelve times its own weight of likewise-metals, just like your vibrating thoughts will attract an abundance of likewise- energies. Even further proof of this is within the extensive scientific research into the connections between everyone and everything in the universe and the influences of distant energies, such as thoughts (a phenomenon known as Quantum Entanglement). Ever been thinking of someone and then they call? Or been thinking of a song and then it comes on the radio next?
An experiment by Grinberg- Zylbebaum in 1994 revealed how quickly the effects of entanglement occur. During the study, two strangers meditated together before being separated. Once separated, their bodies and reactions to stimuli remained in-sync [8]. Furthermore, in August 2015, the scientific journal Nature [9] published a report on Quantum ‘Spookiness’. It confirmed the ‘spooky action at a distance’ theory, posed by Einstein, in which manipulating one object instantaneously seems to affect another that is far away, faster than the speed of light. It further proved that the properties of different objects can become ‘entangled’, meaning that their states are linked.
“If two separated bodies, each by itself known maximally, enter a situation in which they influence each other, and separate again, then there occurs regularly that which I have just called entanglement of our knowledge of the two bodies.” – Erwin Schrodinger.
Therefore, entanglement is the phenomenon in which two entities are inexorably linked no matter how far away from each other they may be. In quantum mechanics, two particles that interact with each other at some point will remain intertwined and influential over one another. It is the existence of potentialities that creates this entanglement. Spatial separation as we know it seems to evaporate with respect this scientific area of study. Modern scientists are even experimenting with the possibility of teleportation using entanglement. But to truly understand what entanglement is and how it works is, for now, beyond the reach of science. Science cannot yet know how it works, but they know for a fact that it does [10]. That’s not to say, however, that we cannot manipulate its effects.
In short, when particles interact or split, they become entangled. For LOA, this supports the philosophy that our energy, be it through mass or thought, can directly affect others. This is further supported by Bell’s Theorem of non-locality; what happens in one location can have a significant influence in a far-off distant place. And this influence does not necessarily stop in the present. Evolution tells us that life on Earth began with single-cell life, predominately bacteria called Cynobacteria. These consumed carbon dioxide and excreted oxygen; the necessary component to support animal life on Earth as we know it. A single cell may not have realised it was making much of a difference, yet it was the contributions of these tiny organisms that have allowed multi- cellular life to develop on Earth, as with the impact of collective consciousness [11].
Extensive scientific research has also been conducted that proves the impact of consciousness on test results; notably, that by Schiltz in 2006 [12] which proved how the belief of the researcher physically effected the results of an investigation, and the famous two-slit experiment [13], which concluded that simply being observed by scientists effected the movement of atoms, thus proving that reality does not exist until it is measured and observed. Within the same experiment, scientists were able to show that an atom, when faced with a barrier with two slits in it, will go through both at once, ergo shattering the misconception that is impossible to be in several locations at the same time. This irreversible process is called the Quantum Wave Collapse and supports the theory that particles are everywhere simultaneously; they are in a Superposition. Interestingly, Dr Joe DIspenza claims that it is during deep meditation that humans are able to most effectively place their thought energy into a Superposition to manifest desires much faster [14].
This concludes that a particle takes all paths one can possibly imagine in reaching its destination and then chooses the most effective one on which to travel- as long as these paths link the particle’s start point and end point- effectively being in many places at the same time, only changing reality when you look at it. During lab experiments, it is the path of least time that is usually the path observed. Noble Prize winning physicist, Richard Feynman, called this method of treating all possibilities as reality the ‘sum of histories’ approach.
Research by Gerlick, et al. [15] and Hugh Everett III’s “Many Worlds Interpretation” research made the claim that since quantum ideas worked well on the minuscule-atom-sized-scale, they should be taken seriously all the way through to our larger-human-sized-scale. As everything in the universe is made of quantum stuff, everything should follow the same quantum rules, including endless waves of possibilities existing simultaneously [16]. His theory concludes that there are many worlds which exist in parallel at the same space-time as our own. It is just THIS you, making THIS choice that is going to lead to THAT outcome.
For LOA, this means that concerning yourself with the ‘HOW’ of a desired outcome is irrelevant. The universal energy will present itself in many routes, linking your current starting point to your desired ending, only becoming a reality when observed by you. Meaning that raising your vibration to make yourself more open to receiving these possibilities is essential in the manifestation process. Like the particles in the two-slit experiment, which were forced to be somewhere rather than being kept everywhere once measured and observed.
To help us understand LOA in more detail, let’s go back in time about thirteen billion years or so... to the History Lesson...
